Calgary Harley-Davidson a ‘destination dealership’ for all types of motorcycle enthusiasts

Diverse lineup includes electric bikes and rentals

Community and camaraderie: These words have become synonymous with Calgary Harley-Davidson, voted as the Gold winner in the Motorcycle Shop category of the 2022-23 Calgary Readers’ Choice Awards.

Owner Gary Sartorio is very proud to win Gold again as did his GM store Shaganappi GM.

“It’s all about our clients and our staff,” says Sartorio.

Canada’s top-volume Harley-Davidson dealership has become a trusted destination for Calgarians when shopping or servicing their motorcycle, Sartorio attributes directly to its staff.

“We have a fantastic team,” says Sartorio. “Our people are passionate about motorcycling, Harley-Davidson and the lifestyle. We are a family. And in turn, we find that our customers tend to join that family.”

Located on Pegasus Road N.E., just off McKnight Boulevard and Barlow Trail, the iconic dealership has long been at the forefront of local riding, which Sartorio says he’s excited to see is continuing to grow. While the store traditionally “catches its breath” over the fall, Calgary Harley-Davidson has been operating at full capacity this year as customers continue to drop in to buy, trade or get their motorcycles ready for next season.

“We’re seeing lots of smiles,” says Sartorio, following our province’s recent sun-drenched summer that was a motorcycle enthusiasts’ paradise.

He notes much of the activity currently is centred around winter builds — customizations ranging from high-performance parts to carbon fibre and beyond.

“Whatever it is, we value the opportunities to build relationships with our customers, best understand what they want, and then create something that meets their budgets yet exceeds their expectations,” says Sartorio.

Calgary Harley-Davidson staff are also busy educating customers on how to prepare their motorcycles for winter storage — considerations such as battery care, fuel tank management and more. The dealership goes so far as to host several seasonal prep seminars for customers throughout the year.

“We find the Harley-Davidson community itself is pretty well-versed on how to look after their motorcycle,” says Sartorio. “But as the popularity of riding grows, we’re seeing newer riders to the brand who are looking for some guidance.”

It helps that Harley-Davidson has stepped up to the plate in recent years with a lineup that speaks to all ends of the buying spectrum, including new riders. The electric LiveWire, for example, is already a hit with younger, urban riders for being “incredibly fast and agile,” along with a range of up to 235 kilometres in the city on a single charge.

“It’s built for all walks, shapes, sizes and skill levels,” Sartorio says of the LiveWire.

It joins a burgeoning lineup at Calgary Harley-Davidson of both new and pre-owned motorcycles that ranges from the Nightster sportster and Heritage Classic cruiser to the Pan America adventurer and Tri Glide trike.

“Harley-Davidson’s really stepped up to the plate with the Pan America for 2022. It’s a phenomenal bike that plays well with riders looking to go off the beaten path,” says Sartorio.

Harley-Davidson’s unique certified pre-owned program also gives customers added peace of mind. Each pre-owned motorcycle at the dealership goes through a 110-point quality inspection, and is reconditioned by a certified Harley-Davidson technician. It also comes with a 12-month limited powertrain warranty.

Meanwhile, for those looking for just a taste of the motorcycle lifestyle, Calgary Harley-Davidson operates one of the largest rental fleets in Western Canada.

“Between our fleet and location, we’re considered a destination dealership. It’s what really sets us apart from any other in Canada,” says Sartorio, noting Calgary Harley-Davidson’s close proximity to both the airport and the Rocky Mountains means they regularly see customers fly in from places as far away as South America, the Asia-Pacific and the United Kingdom.

“Imagine cruising through one of the top tourist destinations in the world on a brand-new Harley-Davidson? You’re going to leave with memories that will last a lifetime.”

Also setting Calgary Harley-Davidson apart is its connection with the larger community, he adds. The dealership is active through the local Harley-Davidson Group (HOG), with numerous non-profit organizations throughout Calgary, ranging from One Broken Biker that supports injured motorcycle riders to the upcoming Christmas Toy Run for local families.

“We’re honoured to be able to work with so many different amazing organizations throughout Calgary,” says Sartorio.
